Whole person - whole care wellness

Maybe a new year means a new you. How will you approach meaningful transformation and change in your life in 2011? Our ability to know our own minds as well as to sense the inner world of others may be our single most important talent, and the key to nurturing a healthy mind and heart. We will talk about the body later! Goodness knows, we ate, drank, and were merry. We have to move slowly on this idea of wellness!

How can we make sense out of the sometimes cluttered confusions of our sometimes maddening and messy emotions? I have explored this terrain in my own work on helping master emotional and social intelligence. I know it is not easy and forever changing. That is why we need to communicate with each other. So often we struggle with fear, anger, guilt, shame and resentment. We often stay in isolation with our thoughts. Through conscious dialogue and deep listening with an open mind, we can learn how all the same we are. Here on the friendly island, we call it one love. This is why I came here. It is practiced with grace!

Self-awareness and compassion is a practice of human ability essential for success in life. Excellence in these categories helps people flourish in relationships, life, marriage, career and work. Learning to understand and manage our emotions with self-awareness helps us to navigate our day and make smooth integration. Smile!

What does this have to do with wellness? Everything. Good health is among life's most noble goals. Setting goals and working to achieve them is the journey of all life. It is the relationship between success and failure, our emotional intelligence, as well as our relationship to a higher purpose of existence. To be proud and humble is to be happy. Striving to change starts with new thoughts, writing them down, and sharing them with another! To claim your power and make a change require a new way of understanding. First you need to believe, then choose, and then take action. No matter where you are, you have blessings that you can count. Begin here! Begin with gratitude. You are alive!

Be grateful, believe in yourself and choose to move forward and take immediate action. As Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or can't; either way, you're right." It is all about believing you can do it. It does not matter if what you desire involves better relationships, finances, career options or optimum health, it all starts with belief. If it generates such a passion inside you to the point where you will accept no other outcome than the one you desire, you will have it. Then make a choice and appropriately take immediate action. I am a living testimony to this. Once you have the belief, you then select the path to travel. Remember, you always have a choice. If you are caught in a situation and you don't know where to turn, go within and listen. The answer is always closer than you think. It is the speed bumps that give us character!

My experience has shown that the right path is very rarely the easiest one. Whether it's what you put in your mouth, what you do with your body, the thoughts you think, your compassion on the road, the number of times a day you smile, or the time you spend cultivating your relationships, it all comes back to belief, choice and action. When you focus on what you want and give that your attention, your energy will begin to flow toward that which you are focusing on. You now have all the power you need and more, in every single moment of your life. My prayer for you is that you will personally experience the limitless power that exists and lies hidden inside each and every single one of us on the planet. So now it's all up to you. It's your choice. Make it a good one! Namaste.
