Scranton, PA, April 7, 2011- George Semian and Peter Amato, honorary chairman, proudly announce their Body, Mind, and Soul at the Downtown Scranton Riverwalk event to take place the weekend of May 20th – 22nd. This will be an engaging opportunity for the entire community to celebrate health, fitness, and well-being. Headlining the event will include workout legend, Richard Simmons, and fitness guru, Extra TV host, Mario Lopez. The event will serve as a non-profit kick off to the summer by encouraging healthy living and raising awareness of the new downtown Scranton Riverwalk. Proceeds will benefit the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, who is responsible for all of the wonderful restorations to the new walking trail along the Lackawanna River. This new addition to Lackawanna County will host the first of many outdoor events, Body, Mind and Soul at the Downtown Scranton Riverwalk.
Festivities will begin Friday evening at the new Groove 400 Spruce Street with an opening reception from 8:00 pm until midnight. Main events will take place Saturday, May 21st, beginning with a 2K run at 8:00 am. The day will be filled with group classes including Yoga, Bootcamp workout with Andy Sziraki, Zumba, and a senior workout with Richard Simmons. Followed by an open forum discussion with Mario Lopez to discuss his new book, Extra Lean. Lining the trail of the newly restored Riverwalk will be a vendor fair of food, information, giveaways, secure kids fitness, play area, and more!
Following the day’s events will be a VIP post reception at the Electric City Trolley Museum. The weekend will wrap up with a wellness brunch Sunday morning at the Scranton Hilton and Conference Center. Tickets for Body, Mind, and Soul at the Downtown Scranton Riverwalk go on sale Wednesday, April 13th.
